Welcome to the Lewes Presbyterian Church

Welcome to the Lewes Presbyterian Church website.  This website is a digital snapshot of who we are as a church.  As you scroll through the pages that tell our story, my hope is that you will get a mental picture of who we are.  Of course, the picture that you get is only partial.  To fully know us and understand who we are, you will need to join us in worship either in person or digitally.  Ultimately, becoming a part of a church is entering into relationships with other followers of Jesus as we worship, as we engage in discipleship and as we serve together.  We are much more than just a building or a collection of organizational documents.  We are a living breathing body of Christ, serving Jesus in the heart of historic Lewes, Delaware.   In the Words of Jesus my invitation to you is to “come and see”.

Worship Services

We are pleased to offer three worship opportunities each Sunday morning.  The 8:00 am and 11:00 am worship services are held in our historic sanctuary; the 9:15 am contemporary service is held in the Fellowship Hall.  The music varies by service, but the sermon topic is the same at each service.

Adult Sunday School classes meet at 8:15 am and at 9:15 am.   Children's Sunday School classes for Pre-K - 6th grade meet during the 9:15 am hour.

  • 8:00 am Worship in the sanctuary

The first of our Sunday morning worship services is a "contemplative" service. There is no choir, but the congregation sings hymns. Normally communion is served each Sunday, except now, due to Covid-19 restrictions communion is only served on the first Sunday of each month.

  • 9:15 am Contemporary service in the fellowship hall

We have contemporary worship service in the upstairs Fellowship Hall every Sunday morning. The atmosphere is casual, and most of our young families with children find this service to work out best for them.  Pre-K to 6th grade children participate in the opening portion of the service and then go to their Sunday School classes.  The music consists of contemporary Christian songs written by Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns and many other Christian artists.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. Nursery care is provided for this service.

  • 11:oo am worship in the Sanctuary

This is our traditional worship service in our historic Sanctuary. Normally our Chancel Choir presents a special anthem each Sunday morning; however, due to Covid-19 restrictions the choir does not perform.  The congregation sings traditional hymns. The sermon topic is the same for all three services.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.
