Welcome to the Lewes Presbyterian Church

Welcome to the Lewes Presbyterian Church website.  This website is a digital snapshot of who we are as a church.  As you scroll through the pages that tell our story, my hope is that you will get a mental picture of who we are.  Of course, the picture that you get is only partial.  To fully know us and understand who we are, you will need to join us in worship either in person or digitally.  Ultimately, becoming a part of a church is entering into relationships with other followers of Jesus as we worship, as we engage in discipleship and as we serve together.  We are much more than just a building or a collection of organizational documents.  We are a living breathing body of Christ, serving Jesus in the heart of historic Lewes, Delaware.   In the Words of Jesus my invitation to you is to “come and see”.

Worship Services

We are pleased to offer three worship opportunities each Sunday morning.  The 8:00 am and 11:00 am worship services are held in our historic sanctuary; the 9:00 am family praise service is held in the Fellowship Hall.  The music varies by service, but the sermon topic is the same at each service.

The Adult Sunday School class meets at 10:00 am.   Children's Sunday School classes for Pre-K - 6th grade meet during the 9:00 am hour. The Youth Group (Grades 6-12) meets from 10:30 am - 11:30 am in the Youth Group meeting room.

  • 8:00 am Worship in the sanctuary

The first of our Sunday morning worship services is a "contemplative" service. There is no choir, but the congregation sings hymns.  Communion is served every Sunday.

  • 9:00 am Family Praise service in the fellowship hall

Every Sunday morning at 9:00 am we have praise service in the Fellowship Hall.  The atmosphere is casual.  Worshippers of all ages attend this service and most of our young families with children find this service  best for them.  Pre-K to 5th grade children participate in the opening portion of the service and then go to their Sunday School class just before the sermon..  The music consists of praise songs, and occasional hymns; video and audio media are often included in the service, as well as elements of the liturgy such as the Apostles' Creed and the Lord's Prayer.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. Nursery care is provided for this service.

  • 11:oo am worship in the Sanctuary

This is our traditional worship service in our historic Sanctuary. Normally our Chancel Choir presents a special anthem each Sunday morning.  The congregation sings traditional hymns. The sermon topic is the same for all three services.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.
