Adult Studies

The mission of Adult Education is to offer a variety of learning settings for both the seeker and the follower of Jesus Christ in order to equip believers with resources and fellowship opportunities necessary for Christian maturity. We believe our mission will be accomplished by exploring and studying the Word of God, by instilling and nourishing a deep love for God’s Word, and by providing a foundational understanding of the Christian faith.

  • 9:15 am  Adult Sunday School Class

On January 5th the 9:15 am Adult Sunday School class will begin a twelve-week study of  C. S. Lewis’s classic masterpiece of religious satire, The Screwtape Letters.

In the 31 letters which constitute the book, Screwtape the devil gives Wormwood his protégé detailed advice on various methods of undermining God's words and of promoting abandonment of God in "the Patient", interspersed with observations on human nature and on the Bible. In Screwtape's advice, selfish gain and power are seen as the only good, and neither demon can comprehend God's love for man or acknowledge human virtue.  This negative approach points out many of our human failings and helps us depend more fully on God’s grace.

If you would like a copy of the book, or if you have any questions about the class, contact Jim or Marianne Miller.  The 209-page book is $11.00.  The Kindle version of the book is $2.99.  In addition, you can download free .pdf files of the text from various websites.

Through a stronger relationship with God, members have discovered how to build better and stronger relationships with others at home, work, school and in our communities.
