ECO - A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians

The Lewes Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO) and of the ECO Heritage Presbytery. The Church subscribes to the ECO Essential Tenets, and is governed by the ECO Polity and Rules of Discipline.

ECO is a new Presbyterian denomination formed in early 2012. As of April 2017, more than 340 congregations have affiliated with ECO. LPC became a member of ECO in February 2015. ECO's mssion is to build flourishing churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ. To learn more about ECO's history click here.

ECO has put forth a statement of nine core values that help it become a movement, not just another denomination.

ECO has adopted the same Book of Confessions as the PCUSA, but has also put forth a declaration of Essential Tenets and Confessional Standards that clearly state the core common beliefs of the denomination.

Two ways in which ECO congregations and pastors live out their covenant relationships with each other are the Mission Affinity Groups and Pastor Covenant Groups. All ECO congregations are expected to be part of a Mission Affinity Group that includes Sessions from two to three other ECO congregations. Likewise, pastors are required to be a part of a Pastor Covenant Group. The purpose and operation of Mission Affinity Groups and Pastor Covenant groups are explained on the ECO website and linked here.
